Back to School Prep: Essential Tips for Moms

Hey there, parents! As August (and then September!) rolls around, it's time to get ready for the back to school hustle. Whether you're a seasoned pro or new to the routine, preparing for the school year can feel a bit overwhelming. Don't worry, we've got some tips to help you ease into the transition smoothly and make the most of a new routine!

1. Create a Routine

Establishing a consistent routine can make mornings less chaotic and evenings more peaceful. Start by setting regular bedtimes and wake-up times a couple of weeks before school starts. A structured routine helps children know what to expect and makes the transition smoother.

2. Organize School Supplies

Make a checklist of all the necessary school supplies and tackle the shopping early. Involve your children in the process to get them excited about their new gear. Labeling items can save a lot of time and prevent mix-ups at school.

3. Meal Planning

Plan lunches and snacks ahead of time to avoid the morning scramble. Prep meals on weekends and store them in easy-to-grab containers. Involve your children in choosing and preparing their meals to make them more likely to enjoy their food. P.S. Homemade freezer meals really are all that. We love frozen breakfast burritos or bagel sandwiches.

4. Plan After-School Activities

Discuss with your children what after-school activities they might want to dabble in. Whether it's sports, arts, or other hobbies, having a plan for after school hours helps manage time better and keeps children engaged and active outside of school–because there’s a lot of sitting!

5. Prepare for Downtime

Back to school can be stressful for both children and parents. Prep an area of your home for some downtime to relax and unwind. Whether it’s a family movie night, reading together, or simply lounging in your favorite cozy spot with a Saranoni blanket, these moments of calm can recharge everyone’s batteries.

Wrapping It Up!

Don’t forget to take care of yourself. Carve out a little “me time” each day, even if it's just a few minutes with a good book. Taking care of your well-being ensures you’re in the best shape to support your family. Those small moments of relaxation, perhaps wrapped in the cozy embrace of a Saranoni blanket, can make all the difference!

Here’s to a fantastic school year ahead!
