The Dreamy Nighttime Routine You Need In Your Life...

It goes without saying–as a luxury blanket company who promotes snuggling and slowing down, we take bedtime pretty seriously. If it involves sleep or snuggling, we’re in! Plus, who doesn’t love finally tossing the hustle and bustle of daytime responsibilities to the win and relaxing just for the sake of relaxing? We’re particularly partial to the ice cream and movie routine, but we know that in reality, the healthiest bedtime routine goes far beyond dessert and your favorite Netflix series!
Research shows that a consistent bedtime routine can lead to better sleep! And let’s be honest–if we want one thing in life, it’s better sleep. Can you imagine a world where every day is a well-rested one? Parents might be rolling their eyes and trust us–we get it, but why not give yourself the best chance you can?
Here are a few of our no-frills bedtime routine items that we love to incorporate into a bedtime routine without getting overwhelmed!
Temperature MATTERS. If you can, lower the temperature of your bedroom an hour or two before you go to sleep. This leads to better sleep, and your blankets will feel EVEN better when it’s a little cooler! We know this.
Gratitude–you don’t have to break out an involved gratitude journal to practice evening gratitude–try telling your spouse, reflecting to yourself, or if you are so inclined, making a note in your phone or journal!
Get comfy with loose, soft clothing and a little stretching! Our Saranoni socks or slippers are the perfect way to get in a relaxed head space so that you can start winding down in comfort! And as for stretching, we’re not experienced yogis here but after a long day of running around, nothing feels better than a good stretch to get the knots out! Look up some simple yoga flows and experiment with simple poses like child’s pose, or even just touching your toes and breathing deeply!
4. Smell-goods. Having a hard time unwinding at night? Try a scented candle, diffuser, essential oils or lotions! When looking for calming scents, stick to scents like lavender, eucalyptus and rosemary!
5. Low lighting is key! Invest in lamps that you love so you can enjoy low lighting while you prepare for bed and lower the brightness of your phone! Keep it simple, and keep it dark! Once it’s lights out, there’s no room for blinking, neon lights! Cover any unneeded light with a towel or look into a sleep mask, or if you really want to go all in, invest in black out curtains!! Game changing.
